1.The smallest common multiple among the common multiples of two or more\u00a0numbers is called the lowest common multiple (LCM) <\/strong>of the given numbers.<\/p>\n

Example 1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24<\/strong><\/span>, 32, 40, 48<\/strong><\/span>, …
Multiples of 12: 12, 24<\/strong><\/span>, 36, 48<\/span><\/strong>, 60, …<\/span><\/p>\n

The LCM of 8 and 12 is 24.<\/p>\n

2.Another method to find the LCM of two or more numbers is by using prime fractorisation
<\/strong><\/p>\n

Example 2<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Find the lowest common multiple of 24 and 90.<\/p>\n

24 = 2^{3<\/sup> x 3
90 = 2 x 32<\/sup> x 5<\/p>\n}

LCM = 2^{3<\/sup> x 32<\/sup> x 5\u00a0= 360<\/p>\n}

3.We can also find the LCM of two or more numbers by repeatly dividing<\/strong> the numbers by their prime factors<\/p>\n

Example 3<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Find the lowest common multiple of 21, 63 and 105.<\/p>\n

LCM = 3 x 7 x 3 x 5 = 315<\/p>\n

The LCM of 28, 63 and 105 is 315.<\/p>\n
