1. Both … and is used to link two words, phrases or sentences.
2. Make sure that the subject and the verb agree in the combined/transformed sentence.

Example 1

Adeline is a wonderful chef. She is also an excellent cartoonist.

Adeline is both a wonderful chef and an excellent cartoonist.

Example 2

John needs my help. Ruben needs my help too.

Both John and  Ruben need my help.
