The Enabling Village was officially launched today which seeks to offer a community space for disabled people in Singapore. Seen as valued members of society, this place brings together a range of facilities and services which can be utilised by them. In 2012, a powerful new tool was discovered to edit DNA precisely and it is known to the scientific world as CRISPR-Cas-9. It has a “find-and-replace” function which can be used to fix errors in the human DNA system and has the potential to manipulate a wide range of genetic material in living organisms.
