- Funding is only allocated for Sports which do well (Win many trophies)
- In many countries, government funding is only allocated for Sports and athletes who have a history of winning medals.
- Singapore rower, Saiyidah Aisha did not receive funding from the government until she won her first gold medal in the sport after self funding her training for a few years.
- In India, most of the fund for Sport is allocated to cricket which is the most popular sport there. Interestingly, it is not their national sport (Hockey is), yet because of the numerous achievements that cricket has brought to the nation, large amounts of funding is being given to cricket.
